Distance Learning Classroom.....On Your Desktop

Programs produced by the Conservation Training Network (CTN) Studio at the USFWS National Conservation Training Center are now available via Livestream on your office / home computer, iPad, iPhone or Android device (with Wi-Fi).

However, we still encourage using the FWS Distance Learning Classrooms when possible. Please see the FWS Regional Office and state listing contacts below.

If you anticipate more than a few people in your office will participate in a broadcast, then we suggest creating a group viewing space i.e. "distance learning classroom".

This can be any available room with an internet connection, computer, large monitor or LCD projector and speakers. Chances are that your office already has the basics for distance learning participation.

The main advantages to using a distance learning classroom and group viewing are: 

1. Office bandwidth demand is reduced - resulting in better video streaming.
2. Group discussion is possible - especially if a facilitator is available.
3. When learning becomes a shared experience it can be more interesting and effective.
4. Distractions are reduced and you can concentrate on your training content.

National Park Service Satellite Downlink Locations 
The National Park Service (NPS) is a member of the Government Education and Training Network (GETN) and has established interactive digital satellite downlink sites, called TEL Stations (Technology Enhanced Learning), at over 240 NPS sites. TEL Stations are listed by state. Each station has an email point of contact. Please use the appropriate email contact to request the use of an NPS TEL Station. Please cc: randy_robinson@fws.gov on your request.

Bureau of Land Management Livestream Channel   
For selected training events, NCTC will coordinate with the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) National Training Center in Phoenix, AZ to make our shared programs available across agencies.

Government Education and Training Network   
The Government Education and Training Network (GETN) is a network of Federal Government agencies using a common satellite carrier for interactive television (1-way video, 2-way audio) and shared training programs. FWS and NPS are members of the GETN, and their training programs can be available when prior arrangements are made. The GETN website will list training offered by other GETN member agencies as well.
